Is Ravens’ John Harbaugh the Best Coach in the NFL?
NBC Sports NFL analyst Patrick Daugherty recently praised Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, placing him among the top three coaches in the league. Since taking over in 2008, Harbaugh has led the Ravens to the playoffs 12 times and guided them to a Super Bowl XLVII victory during the 2012 season. Before joining Baltimore, he had a successful run as the special teams coach for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Topping Daugherty’s list is Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who has secured three Super Bowl titles and came close to winning two more. Reid has been the driving force behind one of the NFL’s most dominant teams over the past decade.
In second place is Sean McVay of the Los Angeles Rams, who led his team to a Super Bowl LVI win in the 2021 season and has made six playoff appearances during his tenure. Harbaugh follows closely behind at third, and some believe his consistent postseason success—12 appearances in 17 seasons—could warrant a higher ranking.
Recently, Harbaugh signed a contract extension, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in NFL history.
Rounding out the top five are Kyle Shanahan of the San Francisco 49ers and Nick Sirianni of the Philadelphia Eagles. Shanahan has guided the 49ers to two Super Bowl appearances, though both ended in losses to the Chiefs. Sirianni, on the other hand, led the Eagles to victory in Super Bowl 59, defeating Reid’s Chiefs.
The remainder of the top 10 includes Jim Harbaugh (Chargers), Dan Campbell (Lions), Mike Tomlin (Steelers), Sean McDermott (Bills), and Matt LaFleur (Packers).
