Antwaan Randle El, a native of Riverdale, Illinois, has come full circle by joining the Chicago Bears as Assistant Head Coach and Wide Receivers Coach for the 2025 NFL season. This move reunites him with newly appointed Head Coach Ben Johnson, under whom Randle El previously served as Wide Receivers Coach with the Detroit Lions.
Randle El’s coaching journey began in 2019 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played a role in their Super Bowl LV victory. He then spent four seasons with the Lions, where he helped develop standout receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Before stepping into coaching, Randle El enjoyed a successful nine-year NFL career, most notably with the Pittsburgh Steelers, with whom he won Super Bowl XL. He is remembered for his versatility on the field, including a famous touchdown pass in that Super Bowl.
In his new role with the Bears, Randle El will mentor a dynamic receiving corps featuring D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, and highly anticipated rookie Rome Odunze, all working under the leadership of second-year quarterback Caleb Williams.
Randle El’s return to his hometown team marks not just a new chapter in his coaching career—but the continuation of a legacy that began right here in Illinois.
