Official Rangers News: Chris Kreider Stuns NHL World; Makes His Stance Clear Amid a Long-Term Contract With The NY Rangers Following Fascinating Offers From…

Posted on May 1, 2025 by admin

In a dramatic turn that has stunned the NHL world, Chris Kreider has made his future crystal clear — and it’s with the New York Rangers. After receiving serious interest and lucrative offers from the Utah Hockey Club, Los Angeles Kings, and two other unnamed Western Conference contenders, the veteran forward has officially committed to a long-term extension with the team he’s called home for over a decade.

Kreider, 34, reportedly turned down at least three multi-year offers that would have paid more annually, choosing loyalty over leverage in what many are calling a defining moment of his career.

“This city, this team — it’s who I am,” Kreider said in a statement released by the Rangers. “There’s unfinished business here. I want to win a Stanley Cup on Broadway.”

The new deal, confirmed Wednesday, is expected to keep Kreider in New York through the 2028–29 season. While full financial terms have not yet been disclosed, sources indicate it’s a team-friendly structure that provides both security for Kreider and flexibility for the Rangers moving forward.

A mainstay in the Rangers’ top six, Kreider has been a physical and offensive force since debuting in 2012. His combination of power, speed, and clutch scoring has made him one of the most respected leaders in the locker room — and one of the most feared forwards in the league.

This season, he has tallied 31 goals and 62 points, helping guide a Rangers team battling in a highly competitive Eastern Conference. His influence, however, goes far beyond the scoresheet.

“Kreids is the heart and soul of this team,” said head coach Peter Laviolette. “He sets the tone every night — with his voice, his play, and his passion for this organization.”

NHL insiders say both the Kings and Utah made aggressive pushes to lure Kreider away, with one Western exec calling the veteran forward “a playoff-style weapon every contender needs.” But in the end, the lure of bringing a Stanley Cup back to Madison Square Garden was too strong to walk away from.

Fans across social media erupted in celebration after the news broke, many calling it a franchise-defining moment of loyalty in an era where player movement is constant.

With Kreider locked in, the Rangers can now focus on building around their veteran core, confident that one of their most important leaders is staying put for the long haul.
