Now that we’re through the 2025 NFL Draft, the trade between the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets in which wide receiver Mecole Hardman returned to the Chiefs during the 2023 season is now complete.
Let’s see how it all shook out:
Revisiting the original trade terms
Chiefs receive: WR Mecole Hardman, 2025 seventh-round pick (225)
Jets receive: 2025 sixth-round pick (207)
WR Mecole Hardman
The minor pick swap saw Hardman return to the Chiefs in mid-October. He played a modest offensive role over six regular-season games, finishing with 14 catches for 118 yards. In four postseason games, he caught five passes for 62 yards, with none more important than the game-winning catch against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
Hardman returned to Kansas City in 2024 on a one-year deal, but his season ended early due to injury in December. Nikko Remigio took over his return duties the rest of the way. In 12 regular-season games, Hardman compiled 12 receptions for 90 yards, as well as five rushes for 90 yards and a rushing touchdown.
The three-time Super Bowl champion is now a member of the Green Bay Packers.
2025 sixth-round pick (207)
On Day 3 of the draft, the Jets traded the pick to the Philadelphia Eagles, who selected Texas offensive tackle Cameron Williams. Williams was ranked 87th on our 2025 consensus draft prospect rankings.
2025 seventh-round pick (225)
Last March, the Chiefs flipped this pick to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for defensive end Cam Thomas. He appeared in just four games, logging 28 snaps (22 of them on special teams). Thomas caught on with the Cleveland Browns after the Chiefs waived him in November.
