Columbus Blue Jackets’ top prospect Cayden Lindstrom scored his first WHL goal in 411 days last night.
Lindstrom missed 13 months after undergoing back surgery. Some thought he wouldn’t play again this season and would instead focus on being ready for next year.
But he battled hard to get back and suit up for the Medicine Hat Tigers’ playoff games, and was rewarded last night for all the work he put in.
His goal came in the opening minute against the Spokane Chiefs, when Lindstrom finished off a cross-crease feed from Hunter St. Martin into a wide-open net.
After scoring, Lindstrom stood at the glass with his arms raised, while Andrew Basha, who started the play, jumped in to celebrate with him.
Lindstrom has played two games for the Tigers and has picked up a goal and an assist.
