Exciting $500 Million Vladimir Guerrero Jr. News After His Blue Jays Message..

Toronto Blue Jays infielder Vladimir Guerrero is in his seventh MLB season. Debuting for Toronto in 2019, Guerrero has spent his entire career with the Blue Jays. While he avoided arbitration this offseason with a $28.5 million salary for 2025, Guerrero was unable to reach a long-term contract extension with the Blue Jays. After a 2024 campaign that saw him drive in 103 runs and finish sixth in American League MVP voting, Guerrero was seeking a contract he told reporters the Blue Jays never came close to offering him (via ESPN’s Jeff Passan). It was expected that Guerrero and the Blue Jays would table contract talks until free agency, but recent reports indicate that may not be the case.

I love these fans.” Just one day after this strong message, it was reported by Bob Nightengale of USA Today that Guerrero and the Blue Jays are inching closer to a deal in the $500 million range across 14-15 seasons. “The Toronto Blue Jays continue to inch closer to signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a contract extension, likely a 14- or 15-year deal worth about $500 million, which will be crucial for Blue Jays CEO Mark Shapiro’s popularity in Toronto,” Nightengale wrote. Not only is it exciting news that Guerrero and the Blue Jays are getting closer to an agreement, but it is significant that talks are ongoing even with the season underway. This is something few expected when the 2022 Gold Glove Award winner imposed a negotiating deadline right before Spring Training began. Through four games this season, Guerrero has four hits in 15 at-bats.
