Expanding Horizons: Raiders Announce International Matchups

Posted on April 2, 2025 by admin

It has been no secret that the NFL is prioritizing expanding its global footprint in recent years.

Along with the traditional games held in the United Kingdom since 2007, the NFL has increased their international presence in recent years with games in Germany and Brazil. The first NFL games in Ireland and Spain will be played this upcoming season, while Australia gets their first taste in 2026. Couple that with continuing rumors of potential international relocation or even expansion, and the league’s intention of making football a global game has never been clearer.

The NFL also has done their part in expanding their broadcasting influence to different countries, and the Las Vegas Raiders saw their rights directly affected this year.

The Raiders are one of two teams breaking into new international markets in 2025.

On Monday, it was announced that the Raiders, along with the Seattle Seahawks, were awarded marketing rights to Australia and New Zealand starting in 2025 as a result of the NFL’s Global Markets Program.

The Raiders and Seahawks join the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles with rights in both regions. The Raiders will also continue to have a presence in Mexico, as they have held the rights to that region since the GMP launched in 2022.

“We’re thrilled to have two additional teams as part of the Global Markets Program across both Australia and New Zealand,” said NFL Australia & New Zealand General Manager Charlotte Offord in a statement. “The Raiders and the Seahawks are two incredible franchises that already have established fanbases in-market. With over eight million NFL fans across the region, we look forward to working with these clubs to create more experiences for fans locally.”

With four new teams and two new markets, the GMP ensures that 29 NFL teams will have their games broadcast in 21 international markets in 2025.

“The expansion of the Global Markets Program in 2025 reflects the NFL’s continued focus to grow the game and connect with fans on a global scale,” said NFL executive vice president of club business and league events Peter O’Reilly. “With more clubs entering the program and existing clubs adding to their global rights, and as the program expands to new markets, we are seeing strong momentum and impact in growing fandom worldwide together.”

With this latest expansion, Raider Nation now has another branch on the other side of the world.
