Despite going hitless in the team’s first three games, New York Mets all-star Francisco Lindor has a reason to smile today.
The 31-year old shortstop and his wife Katia took to instagram Monday morning to announce the birth of their first son, Koa Amani. As you can imagine, Mets fans took to social media to congratulate the Lindor family.
“ITS A BOY!!! HE WILL BE THE GREATEST ATHLETE TO EVER LIVE!!! Congratulations to the Lindor Family!!,” one user exclaimed.
“Sign him @StevenACohen2,” a user posted on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).
“Lindor will now be a beast,” another user commented.
“Him and his son have the same batting average.” a user joked.
Francisco and Katia, who originally connected via Instagram, married in 2021, a year after welcoming their daughter Kalina. In June 2023, the Mets slugger and his wife welcomed their second daughter Amapola Chloé into the world.
In his first at bat after Amapola Chloé was born, on Father’s Day no less, Lindor launched a 401-food home run over Citi Field’s left field wall.
“Girl Dad power is real,” PIX 11 analyst Ron Darling commented after the memorable blast.
Only time will tell if Lindor will change his fortunes after announcing the birth of his son Koa Amani.
Lindor has struggled to begin his fifth season with the Mets, going 0-for-11 with three strikeouts.
On Saturday, the Mets announced that Lindor could be forced to miss some time following Koa’s birth.
After dropping two-of-three against the Houston Astros to open the season, the Mets are in Miami to take on the Marlins Monday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET.
