The New England Patriots went into the 2025 offseason with holes at four of the five starting offensive lineman positions. After adding Morgan Moses to start at right tackle, the Patriots have added depth pieces to compete for starting jobs.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero , the Patriots are signing former New York Jets offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer to a one-year deal. Across his NFL career, Schweitzer has had 62 starts.

Schweitzer is 31 years old, coming off his eighth season in the NFL. He appeared in just four games for the Jets in 2024, with all but one of his 19 snaps occurring on special teams.

He began his career with the Atlanta Falcons in 2017 after being a sixth-round selection in the NFL Draft. He started all 16 games for the Falcons in his rookie year at right guard before switching over to the left side of the offensive line the following season.

Schweitzer started 13 of the 15 games he played in during the 2018 season before starting just seven in 2019.

Then, in 2020 Schweitzer signed as a free agent with the Washington Commanders, then called the Washington Football Team. He started 13 games for the Commanders at left guard before moving back to right guard in 2021, where he started just five games.

In 2022, the Commanders tried Schweitzer at center, where he appeared in seven games, starting six. He then joined the Jets in 2023 and has since appeared in just ten games, starting in only two.

Schweitzer is a depth signing for the Patriots and provides versatility across the interior of the offensive line. He’s a veteran presence who has 62 career starts and is a versatile lineman for the Patriots to have in their offensive line room.
