Taylor Hall Signs 3-Year, $9.5M Extension with Carolina Hurricanes
Raleigh, NC — The Carolina Hurricanes are doubling down on veteran leadership and playoff firepower, inking former NHL MVP Taylor Hall to a three-year, $9.5 million contract extension. The deal, which runs through the 2027–28 season, signals Carolina’s confidence in Hall’s fit within their contending roster.
Hall, 33, was acquired in a three-team deal on January 24 involving the Chicago Blackhawks and Colorado Avalanche. Since arriving in Raleigh, the veteran winger has notched 18 points (9 goals, 9 assists) in 31 games, including a clutch double-overtime goal that helped eliminate the New Jersey Devils in Round 1 of the playoffs.
“Taylor has proven to be an outstanding fit for our team, and we are thrilled that he is excited to make Raleigh his home for another three seasons,” said Hurricanes GM Eric Tulsky. “He’s a solid veteran presence in the locker room and a proven playoff performer.”
Hall himself echoed the sentiment: “I was happy to be traded, and I was happy to come to a really good team that has a culture and structure that fits me well.”
Though the new deal represents a pay cut from his previous $6 million per year contract with the Boston Bruins, Hall’s $3.17 million annual average value underscores his commitment to competing with a legitimate Cup contender. Over his career, Hall has racked up 739 points (284 goals, 455 assists) across 909 NHL games, suiting up for teams including the Oilers, Devils, Coyotes, Sabres, Bruins, and Blackhawks.
With this move, Carolina locks in a battle-tested winger just as their Stanley Cup window remains wide open — and Taylor Hall, still chasing hockey’s ultimate prize, might finally have found the right storm to ride
