Detroit, MI — The Red Wings locker room is buzzing with a different kind of joy today—and it’s got nothing to do with a game-winning goal.
Captain Dylan Larkin is officially a dad! The heart and soul of the Detroit Red Wings welcomed his first child this week, and the announcement has Red Wings Nation absolutely beaming with pride.
The 28-year-old forward took to social media early Tuesday morning to share the big news, posting an adorable photo of his newborn’s tiny hand wrapped around his finger with the caption:
“Welcome to the world, little one. Our newest teammate has arrived!”
According to team sources, both mom and baby are happy and healthy, and Larkin is understandably over the moon. Teammates were quick to flood the comments with congratulatory messages. Lucas Raymond joked, “Does this mean we have to start calling you Coach Larks now?” while Moritz Seider added, “Mini Larkin already has more assists than I do!”
While Larkin is known for his leadership on the ice, friends and fans alike are already predicting he’ll bring that same passion and dedication into fatherhood. After all, this is a guy who’s never been afraid to throw himself into the corners or rally the boys when things get tough. Now? He’ll be tackling sleepless nights, diapers, and lullabies with the same intensity.
Head Coach Derek Lalonde said it best:
“We always knew Dylan was the ultimate team player. Now he’s got a new team to lead at home—and we couldn’t be happier for him.”
Though Larkin is expected to take a short leave from the team to spend time with his growing family, don’t expect the Red Wings to lose momentum. If anything, this heartwarming news has lifted spirits throughout the organization as the Wings continue their push in the late-season grind.
Congratulations to the Larkin family on the arrival of their newest and cutest teammate. Detroit’s got a future skater in the making—and we can’t wait to see those first baby steps… straight into a pair of hockey skates
