From being listed at 6’3″ in high school to now reportedly measuring 6’2″ in the NFL, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is drawing playful jabs online — with fans joking he might be the first quarterback to get sacked by gravity.

In the world of football, inches can mean everything—just ask Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. But this offseason, it’s not his arm strength, pocket presence, or touchdown percentage making headlines. Instead, it’s his height—or rather, the supposed shrinking of it—that has NFL fans rolling with laughter and playful jabs across social media.

The quarterback, listed at 6’3″ during his high school and early college career, has recently been officially measured at 6’2″ during the Cowboys’ latest physical evaluations. While most would consider a one-inch difference a rounding error, the internet did what the internet does best—explode with jokes, memes, and viral one-liners.

“First quarterback to ever get sacked by gravity,” one fan quipped on X, igniting a wave of memes featuring shrinking Prescott gifs, disappearing quarterbacks, and even mock graphics of the NFL altering stats mid-game.

Others joined in with comments like, “Dak Prescott is in his reverse growth arc,” and “Guess all that pressure in the pocket really does weigh you down.” Even rival fanbases couldn’t resist taking potshots, with Eagles supporters claiming, “He’s getting shorter to avoid those Micah Parsons sacks in practice.”

To his credit, Dak Prescott responded to the online frenzy with humor. In a video posted to his official Instagram account, he stood next to teammate and towering offensive tackle Tyler Smith while holding a tape measure and jokingly said, “Either I’m shrinking or Tyler’s just growing into a skyscraper.”

The NFL has seen its fair share of strange offseason stories, but this one hit a sweet spot—harmless, hilarious, and oddly endearing. Sports analysts even chimed in, with ESPN’s Mina Kimes joking during a podcast, “Dak’s still 6’2″ in the pocket, but 10 feet tall when the game’s on the line. So what’s the big deal?”

But the story goes beyond the humor. Prescott’s leadership remains unquestioned within the Cowboys organization. With a new offensive coordinator in place and a renewed commitment to pushing deep into the playoffs, the Cowboys are banking on their quarterback’s poise and durability—not his height.

Head coach Mike McCarthy addressed the situation with a chuckle during minicamp. “I told Dak, if being 6’2″ makes him faster, we’ll list him at 5’10” if it gets us to the Super Bowl.”

Prescott enters the 2025 NFL season facing the usual gauntlet of expectations. The Cowboys, hungry for a return to championship glory, will lean heavily on their signal-caller—regardless of whether he’s an inch shorter on paper.

In a sports world often dominated by controversies and contract disputes, this playful episode stands out as a rare lighthearted moment. And for Dak Prescott, it may just be the best offseason training yet—learning to stand tall, no matter what the tape measure says.
